MICROBIOLOGY:
Perspectives from Academia and Industry

SUKSHMJEEV SOCIETY, DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY
Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, University of Delhi

This conference is the culmination of a series of events celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Department of Microbiology, which was established at Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences (University of Delhi) in 2007.
We were awarded the 'Star Status' by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, under the Star College Scheme in June 2017.
The aim of this Industry-Academia Conclave is to engage the participants in a comprehensive dialogue between highly accomplished representatives from prominent Biosciences companies, research organisations and facilitators of translational biotechnology like DBT-BIRAC, BCIL. Our speakers will cover topics ranging from clinical drug development, antimicrobial resistance, and progress in vaccines to biofuel research and microbial fermentation techniques, motivating young students to work towards exciting careers at the ever expanding industry-academia interface.
Our speakers, affiliated to DBT-BIRAC, BCIL, CSIR-IMTECH, JNU, Pfizer, Indian Oil and Eppendorf, will not only expound upon their contributions in the fields of Pharmaceutical Development, Bioenergy, Microbial and Industrial Biotechnology, Vaccines, and Diagnostics, but will describe how industry-academia partnerships function and how knowledge exchange amongst them drives innovation. They will also address the apparent dichotomy between basic and applied sciences and how the skill gap in industry expectations and academic training can be bridged for enhanced productivity of the future's workforce.
